My Passion

My journey with sacred sound began when I first heard, and more importantly felt, a Himalayan singing bowl being played behind me - my whole being became alight with the vibrations emanating from it! This profound experience awakened a deep need within me to explore sound healing, setting me on the path to becoming a Sound Therapy Practitioner.

Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from incredible teachers: Dee Banton, who taught me Reiki, Crystal Therapy, and Sound Therapy; Sheila Whitaker, who taught me the gong; and more recently in 2021 Bear Love who taught me his wonderful B Love flumies.

My passion for sound healing and teaching later led me to started teaching sound therapy in 2021. I truly believe that this is my gift, my calling - what I was meant to do.

My mission is to help my students fulfil their own passion for sacred sound, so that they too can honour their own soul’s calling.

My background

Born in the late 60s I grew up during a time when things like dyslexia and ADHD weren’t really though about in education. I did somehow manage to pass my 11+ and go to a grammar school but found traditional teaching didn’t really suit my learning needs. When thinking about what I would like for my students I structured the course and teaching notes around how I would have liked them, stripping away things like a 5000 word essay which would have overwhelmed me!

After passing my O levels I dropped out of sixth form and joined the WRAF at the tender age of 17 where I trained and worked as a ground radio technician. The world of sound and the transmission of sound waves had fascinated me from the age of 15 when I was an ATC cadet.

I later came out of the RAF and worked as an electronics engineer up until my experience with the Himalayan singing bowl when I knew in that very instance that my life was about to change direction - massively!

The experience gained from the RAF and my electronics engineering background allows me to blend ‘sound science’ with intuitive play in my teaching. I believe in balancing the logical and intuitive aspects of ourselves - understanding ‘the whys and wherefores' when we learn, but letting intuition take over when we play.

My training in sound therapy began in 2012 with Dee Banton of the then International School of Vibrational Healing and in 2015 with Sheila Whittaker of the College of Sound Healing. I am truly grateful for their teachings.

I continue to do my own research and study… drawing also from my higher self and past life times working strongly with sound and vibrational medicine.

My Teaching Style

My teaching style is highly personalised, offering one-on-one tuition or small group (4 max) tuition.

My goal is to bring out the very best in you, so you can develop your own unique approach to Sound Therapy, whether you work one-on-one with clients, lead groups, or integrate this practice with other modalities. I’ll encourage you to draw on your own personal beliefs and faith too, adapting as necessary.

I provide a nurturing environment, clear and concise notes, and everything you need to learn, practice, and fulfil your calling. I share authentically from my own experiences - including where I’ve made mistakes - because I believe that learning is a continuous, two-way process. Often, students inspire me with new approaches that I hadn’t considered before!

If this resonates with you, please get in touch. I’d love to help you on your journey of learning and growth.

Client Love

“I chose Academy of sound as it was one to one teaching.

Helen is a wonderful teacher, she makes you feel very comfortable and creates a course around what you are most interested in.

I was a little nervous on my first day but Helen put me at ease and we went through the course at my pace.

I am so grateful to Helen as learning about sound has literally changed my life.”
